This is the third vintage of The Roman Road Chardonnay to be released featuring 100% estate grown Chardonnay (Burgundian still clone 548 hand-picked during the harvest in October 2018.
Following gentle oxygen-free processing in our Inertys, pneumatic, grape press, 25% was fermented in one year old French oak barrels with the balance going through primary and malolactic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks in our state-of-the-art winery.
The Roman Road Chardonnay then spent nine months in French oak barrels before bottling in June 2019.
Exuding a true sense of place, this elegant, single vineyard, still Chardonnay is created from fruit specially selected for its maturity and concentration. It displays pineapple and apricot aromas, complemented with sweet oak, clementine and mixed spice flavours and finishing in a luxurious, textured palate.
