Named after the producer’s eldest son, this English Pinot Noir is made from specially selected Burgundian clones at the Hush Heath Estate.
Although the Pinot Noir planted in 2002 was originally intended to be for the creation of our sparkling wines, a warming climate and increased experience (in both the vineyards and the winery) has meant we've been able to produce delicious still Pinot Noir for the last five vintages. The wine undergoes a short and fairly cool fermentation on its crushed, de-stemmed skins, resulting in a bright ruby colour and a lively fruit structure. A portion of the wine spends 6-8 months in French and American oak, adding sweet spice, vanilla and tannin to complement the fruit.
100% Pinot Noir
Appearance: Bright ruby red.
Nose: A perfumed nose of vanilla, leather, red berry, raspberry and strawberry.
Palate: The wine has lightly oaked, using French and American barrels, imparting soft but firm tannin's.
Ageing potential: Best enjoyed over the next 3 years, but could age elegantly beyond that.
Food pairings: This wine is a brilliant match with pheasant, grouse, partridge, pigeon and roast Romney Marsh lamb.
